What is possible? Where is the world going with respect to Architecture and Technology?. Recent trends continue to show increased interests in improved capabilities of Building Information Modelling with promising technologies. Compare to existing approaches of interaction with information inside Architectural Projects rooted in BIM which is limited to 2-D, Virtual Reality offers a new 3-D and 4-D approach to offering even more with presence and interaction. Leveraging on these technologies, decision making has never been easier and faster overall leading to time and cost savings alongside knowledge retention.Hassan will be showcasing possible usage for Virtual Reality as an extensive tool for scaling Building Information Modeling capabilities for AEC industry professionals. Gamification is a major technique for improving how we interact with building projects virtually and there are best practices to achieve the most engaging and rewarding interactions with BIM data. In this session, he will equally highlight how game elements can be embedded to increase motivation while learning about a building; a strategic way to improve the quality of Architectural education in design institutions. To help anyone stay ahead of the learning curve, this session has been designed to help a wide range of professionals in the AEC industry. Learning Objectives – Attendees in this session will gain the following
Learn new terminologies to get started with BIM + VR
3D Modeling Best practices for content
Locomotion and Interaction design techniques with controllers
Recommended Industry software and workflow
Beginner techniques
How to develop VR with minimum coding
Requirements for attendees
At least, beginner level in Revit or Rhino (either is fine)
No coding experience required
No VR development experience required

The drive towards Sustainable Building Design and High Performance in buildings is significantly growing. Learn about how Building Information Modelling (BIM) is relevant for designing high-performance buildings. The drive towards Sustainable Building Design and High Performance in buildings is significantly growing. This is down to a number of key factors that have a huge impact on the building and construction sectors; such as concerns over climate change and energy independence. During this #BIMTalk session, Omar Selim will uniquely focus on passive design, efficient building services systems, advanced building simulation techniques and occupants health and comfort combined with the theories and practice of BIM in design and construction. Omar has over 15 years of experience in BIM management across Egypt, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. He is the founder of BIMArabia and general manager of BIMArabia Research. Omar has wide experience working with large scale firms in the GCC. He was honoured at the Autodesk Digital transformation summit by the Egyptian government, for spreading and supporting the BIM culture, and community development regarding the digital transformation of the construction sector. With a solid knowledge of the full life cycle of projects from the design stage up to completion and handing over, Omar boldly assures that the experience gained over the past years both on the professional and personal levels; qualifies him to present and share knowledge. He has worked on Low, Medium, High Rise Buildings, and master plan projects development and construction through his experience on a wide range of projects. He has over time developed a solid experience in Leadership and creative problem-solving in various situations. The BIM Africa#BIMTalk (January Edition) is a periodic learning-based virtual program.
