BIM standards are guidelines that help implement BIM across construction projects. They are a set of best practices, procedures, and methodologies that ensure BIM is implemented consistently and effectively. Despite the vast potential of BIM, there is a slow uptake across the African built industry. Join us for this insightful #BIMTalk session, where our expert speaker Mahmoud Adly will share valuable insights and best practices on implementing BIM standards. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of national BIM standards, the ISO 19650, and how to initiate standard implementation in African countries. Through real-world case studies, you’ll learn from successes, challenges, and lessons learned, and discover strategies for overcoming common obstacles to ensure sustainability. Mahmoud Adly is a qualified and talented architect with 26 years of experience. He has extensive expertise in BIM management, as well as in technical engineering, construction, and supervision. He has contributed to many prestigious projects in the UAE. Since 2009, he has been on his BIM journey, exploring digital engineering methods from concept design and design development to engineering, construction, and handover. Mahmoud has taken on the responsibility of converting many design and construction teams and firms in the UAE to BIM, as well as numerous governmental entities. He has written BIM protocols, set up standard procedures and strategies, and maintained the entire BIM lifecycle, from the concept stage to facility management, covering 3D to 7D. While working on high-profile projects, Mahmoud has demonstrated exceptional skills in multidisciplinary design and construction leadership. He has successfully utilized BIM strategies with top developers and consultants in the Middle East, achieving targeted objectives within a controlled, timely manner. His global master’s degree in BIM has provided him with a comprehensive understanding of BIM implementation and best practices. He has gained in-depth knowledge of BIM-related software, including Revit, ArchiCAD, Aecosim, Navisworks, Dynamo, Synchro, Vico, Costit, CostX, Cype, Tekla, and ProjectWise/Revit Server. Additionally, the Smart Cities Management master’s program has equipped Mahmoud to manage multidisciplinary approaches for smart cities, considering emerging technological tools in urban contexts, intelligent city BIM applications and initiatives, and intelligent facility management.
