BIM Africa is delighted to announce its membership of the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC). The platform connects governments, private sector and organisations to drive the transformation towards a zero-emission, efficient, and resilient buildings and construction sector.
Founded at COP21 and hosted by the United Nations Environment Programme, the GlobalABC is an international initiative committed to a common vision: a zero-emission, efficient and resilient buildings and construction sector. With over 130 members, including 29 countries, the GlobalABC functions as an umbrella or meta-platform – a network of networks – that brings together initiatives and actors focusing on the buildings and construction sector
With a focus on the SDGs 9, 11, and 17; BIM Africa aligns with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by fostering innovation in the Construction Industry through local and global partnerships towards the delivery of Smart, Resilient and Sustainable Infrastructure and Urban Development
Other members of the GlobalABC include RICS, UN-Habitat, RIBA, FIDIC, IFC and many other global organisations.
ACTIVITY RELATED TO LOW GHG AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RESILIENT BUILDINGS
Building Information Modeling (BIM) and digital technologies enable the development of zero-emission, efficient, and resilient building designs, allowing construction stakeholders to integrate and analyze building performance. BIM Africa will actively participate in two Work Areas of the GlobalABC.
