The deployment of BIM for infrastructure project is rapidly expanding and advancements in technology are being made across all disciplines.
Presently, numerous professionals in the AECO industry utilize BIM. These include Designers, modellers, architects, engineers, contractors, developers, managers and senior executives, among many others. The infrastructure sector is on the front line of this new paradigm, with BIM already offering significant savings of cost and time for road/highway, rail, bridge & tunnel, and utility professionals. Issam EL-Absi would be discussing on the deployment of BIM in mega infrastructures projects.
Issam EL-Absi is the advanceBIM CEO / BIM Centers General Manager. He also serves as the Academic Director of the Master’s in Global BIM Management for Infrastructure Projects by the Zigurat Global Institute of Technology headquartered in Barcelona. He initiated the use of BIM approach and methodology in CCC in 1997; and used to manage three main centres of excellence for providing BIM, engineering and project control services with a total number of BIM resources approaching 200 engineers. CCC is the largest construction company in the Middle East. The company developed the Abu Dhabi International Airport Midfield Terminal Building and South Helwan Thermal Power Plant amongst other projects.
Issam has been active for the last 15 years in European, International organizations and initiates such as the 5Di group, ENCORD, ENCORD VCP group, DigiPlace and UBA (UAE BIM Association). He has participated in knowledge transfer of BIM-based systems for construction and post-construction through several international and regional conferences and events. Issam was recently appointed as the CEO for a new Digital Transformation Startup in Europe called advanceBIM.
