Our Executive Director was invited as a resource person at the 2021 Annual Assembly of Registered Quantity Surveyors conveyed by the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN). His presentation explored business opportunities for quantity surveying practitioners in ICT and BIM.
The Annual Assembly is where Registered Quantity Surveyors ventilate on issues that are of particular interest and concern to the profession of quantity surveying both in Nigeria and globally. The Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN) is one of the five professional regulatory agencies under the statutory supervision of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing (FMWH). The QSRBN was established by Act No. 31 1986 (Now CAP Q1 LEN 2004) to amongst other functions regulate and raise the standard of education and practise of the quantity surveying profession across the country.
The presentation by Moses Itanola highlighted various business potentials in deploying ICT and digital technologies in construction and infrastructure developments. The paper was co-authored by Olasunkanmi Babatope and Tobi Awojobi. Areas explored include Data analytics and construction information, Database management and SQL based knowledge, Blockchain for Construction finance, Building Information Modelling (BIM), Project Management technologies, and Modular construction.
The 2-day assembly commenced on Wednesday, 24th February, and witnessed the participation of various top professionals in the quantity surveying practise as well as new inductees into the profession. He was also presented with a plaque for his contributions to the assembly and the industry at large.
