How best do we fast-track BIM Implementation and adoption in Nigeria?. A Mandate, Nudge or Academia?.
Yesterday, 10th of July 2019, BIM Africa, with full sponsorship from Autodesk Inc, hosted an exclusive invite-only NATIONAL BIM ROUNDTABLE in Nigeria. The event which held at Sheraton Hotel in Abuja was themed: “Charting a Unified Consensus Towards a Nigerian BIM Mandate”.
All through the past week, we were engaged in various exciting and impactful events. From 24th to 28th June, the Digital Construction and BIM Workshop was conducted in Ikeja Lagos. The BIM Awareness Forum was also conducted at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State on Tuesday, 25th June and at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University on Saturday, 29th June.
As part of its mandate to ensure a pan-African digital built environment, BIM Africa facilitated the participation of individuals from Nigeria and Ghana as the Country Editorial Team for the open source BIM Dictionary Project by the BIMe Initiative supported by ChangeAgents AEC in Melbourne, Australia.
From 11th to 13th of April, some members of the initiative were in Ghana for a 3-day workshop on Building Information Modelling (BIM), Cost Planning and Quantification with Softwares. The workshop started with a lecture by Prof. Martin Morgan Tuuli on Cost Planning using the New Rules of Measurement (NRM) as authored by RICS.
