The Big 5 Construct Kenya 2022 ended excellently. The event, held from 9th – 11th November 2022, featured about 20 CPD lectures and exhibitors from over 18 countries.
As part of the CPD-certified Technology Talks, BIM Africa hosted sessions exploring various topics on Building Information Modelling (BIM) and its importance to the Construction Industry.
Ngoc Nguyen presented “Practical Usages of Building Information Modelling (BIM) to Save Time and Money!”. Ngoc is the Managing Director at Parallel BIM Limited and has worked in the architectural profession for over 20 years with international firms and projects worldwide.
Nzangi Muimi shared “BIM Modelling Principles from a Quantity Surveyor’s Perspective”. Nzangi is the Founder of bimgoodies.com and a quantity surveying graduate of the University of Nairobi.
A panel session explored “Driving effective BIM implementation; the exigency of structured approaches”. The panel was moderated by Wambui Maina, Assistant BIM Manager at Mace. Panellists include Mark Mwoka, Architect at Boogertman + Partners Architects, Mercy Waithira Kariu, BIM Coordinator at Zutari, and E. O. Ochieng’ BIM Specialist at CiviStruct Integrated Systems Limited/WorldsView Technologies.
The sessions improved the knowledge of workshop participants on BIM and digital technologies in the construction industry. The interactive question session by the audience revealed the need for more awareness engagements which is a major part of the vision of our initiative.
